In 1998 under then Fire Chief Chip Prather, a project team was formed to create an organizational philosophy document called The Orange County Fire Way. The document defined ‘who we are’ with a deep sense of common purpose and belonging, no matter what job, rank, or title each member holds.

This 2019 version of The OCFA Way refreshes our mission, vision, and motto, while preserving our values and organizational philosophies that have come to define ‘who we are.’ It is intended to complement our focus on mission-driven culture, which defines how we accomplish our mission through an OCFA Operational Doctrine along with existing policies, procedures, and General Orders.
